Sisters United Alliance/SA Women Vote
Frequently Asked Questions
Q:  What makes you think this project will succeed?

A:  Sisters United Alliance has a tried and true strategy for educating and motivating registered women to go to the polls.  Click here to see how their efforts resulted in winning Democratic races and increasing Democratic turn out up and down the ballot.  SUA targets a group that most campaigns ignore--the registered but non-voters.  SUA gives them the information they need to vote, when they need it, in a format that resonates and motivates.

Q:  What makes you think these women are going to vote Democrat?

A:  Check out a sample (Bexar County) data mining report here.  The 90,500 Bexar County registered women scored 60+ on the DNC Score, which means they lean liberal.  And again, the results in 2016 and 2018 demonstrated that the women motivated to vote by SUA voted Democrat and made the difference in many races.

Q:  What difference would 600,00 more voters make?  Isn't Texas a Red state?

A:  In 2018, Democrats elected 2 new members to the US House of Representatives and 12 new members to the Texas State House.  Beto lost by fewer than 215,000 votes statewide out of more than 8 million votes cast.  Adding the 600,000 potential women voters in the 13 Texas counties targeted by SUA will impact races up and down the ballot in Texas.  Voting women can change the world.

Q.  Is Sisters United Alliance a 501c(3)?

A.  No, SUA was formed in 2015 as a PAC.

Q.  Women in November PAC, Sisters United Alliance, TX Women Vote—why so many names?

A.  Regarding WiN and SUA.   If you use the ActBlue donation link, you will see that the original name for the PAC was Women in November.  The group changed the working name to SUA in 2016 but the PAC name is WiN.  TX Women Vote is the name used by the county fundraising efforts.  Different working name, all the money raised goes to the same organization.

Q.  How is SUA staffed?

A.  SUA has two part time contractors (for data mining and messaging strategy.)  All others are volunteers.  SUA expenditures are for the printing/mailhouse, social media ad placement, and phone banking.

Q.  What education will SUA provide with regard to mail-in balloting?

A.  SUA will share all key information about MIB on their web site and in the communications of the strategy.  Because the target is still moving, no definitive guidance is provided at this time.
